Privacy Policy
How Visual Insights collects and uses information on visual-insights.org, the sample portal, and client portal sign-in.
This Privacy Policy explains how Visual Insights, LLC ("Visual Insights," "we") collects and uses information through visual-insights.org, the sample portal at visual-insights.org/demo, and the sign-in page of our client portal at portal.visual-insights.org (together, the "Site"). Data that clients load into their own analytics portals is governed by our client agreements, not this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, company, and anything you write in your message.
Signing in to the client portal. When you sign in with Google (or, where offered, Microsoft or your company's sign-in provider), we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from that provider. We use them only to confirm who you are and which client portal you may open. We do not receive your password, and we do not request access to your email, files, contacts or other account data.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting providers record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of your visit. The client portal uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in; it expires after a period of inactivity or when you sign out.
The sample portal. The sample portal uses fictional data and does not ask for personal information. It stores small settings in your browser's session storage (for example, that you have seen the welcome message), which are removed when you close the tab.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries, schedule consultations, sign you in to the client portal and control access to it, provide support, keep the Site secure, understand which pages bring visitors, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use information from Google or Microsoft sign-in for advertising.
Service providers
We share information with providers that help us run the Site and our business: our website host (GoDaddy), our portal host (Render), our sign-in providers (Google, and Microsoft where offered), our form provider (Formspree), our email provider. The Site also loads fonts, code libraries and map imagery from third-party services (Google Fonts, cdnjs and Esri), which receive your IP address when your browser requests those files.
Other disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.
Retention
We keep inquiry emails and form submissions for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact unless you become a client. Portal sign-in records are kept for as long as your organization's access continues and our security logs require.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing info@visual-insights.org. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, and we will honor them as required. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the email. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted connections and multi-factor authentication for our administrators, but no website or transmission is completely secure.
Children
The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
